Cape Sweater

I'm so glad that it's back to cape-sweater season! Thanks to 2020AVE, I've added this cozy grey piece to my fall wardrobe. It's the perfect layer to throw over any all-white or all-black look. In this case, I just went with a simple black camisole, leggings, and booties. Debuting my freshly trimmed hair, with my lob a little shorter, my layers are going to get a little longer. This draped style is perfect for a casual Saturday. With school back in full-swing, I'm into all those effortless looks, mostly because I love to sleep in and have about .5 seconds to get ready before I end up running late to class.

Playsuits & Leathers

The cooler weather definitely has me prepping my coats and jackets for fall, but for the tail end of summer, transitional dressing is where you can get the best of both seasons. While trying to get one more wear out of your summer wardrobe, you're also eager to whip out that favorite jacket of yours that has been waiting patiently in your closet for the past three or four months. A rooftop party for New York Fashion Week called for this red playsuit from Topshop and my Mackage leather from Aritzia.

It's definitely out of my comfort zone to wear color, as I like to stick to my neutrals, but there's no other time more perfect than NYFW to try something different. As the weather gets colder, I'll be adding more and more layers to my outfits. You'll see this leather piece on repeat because investing in a good leather jacket is definitely one of my fall staples. I'll be doing a full feature post on great leather pieces at different price points. Stay tuned and I hope everyone has an amazing week!

Céline Medium Cabas Phantom

A good variation in my handbag collection is key, so when I sold my red Céline Trio (since I also have it in black) I knew which bag had to take its place. Being a full-time student and often needing to carry around my laptop and camera for blogging duties, a tote was more than necessary. I've always loved the simplicity of Céline's designs and I knew the Medium Cabas Phantom with Belt would be the answer to my tote bag prayers!

The bag stands at 13"H x 8"D x 11"L with an 8.5" drop. Made of soft grained calfskin, it's perfect for everyday use. The lining is suede with one zip pocket and two smaller open pockets, perfect for easily accessing my cardholder and business cards. The tote comfortably carries my 13" MacBook Air, some notebooks, and even a full make-up bag and some clothes. Whether I'm just off to school for a few hours or carrying some necessities for a weekend away from home, it's amazing what this bag can fit, especially when the belt is untied.

As with any of my bags, getting it to stay looking like new is very important. This is crucial if there are any chances for the bag to get resold at a decent price point later on. When the bag isn't in use, I stuff it with tissue paper, place it back in its dust bag, and make sure my room maintains a cool room temperature. I also treat all my bags with Leather Spa Water and Stain Protector Spray before the first use to avoid any chances of getting stained.

Concerns with this bag would be the sealed edges, as I've noticed some slight fraying and peeling, although, it's nothing too significant and isn't noticeable unless you really take a close look at it. The base of the bag doesn't droop much when carrying my laptop or other heavy equipment such as my camera so its ability to maintain structure is good despite carrying a lot of things. I prefer wearing this bag with the belt tied and the sides folded in, just to give it a more vertical/taller appearance.

All in all, the bag is a great investment. I've gotten a lot of use out of it after only having it for about two weeks and I know I will only get more use out of it in time. When you have a hectic schedule, that "throw-everything-in-there" bag is definitely a must in any on-the-go girl's collection. Shop my other tote bag picks below!

Lovers + Friends

Who doesn't love a good shirt dress? This Lovers + Friends piece is perfect for an effortless and casual look. Paired with my favorite custom Adidas Stans, this outfit is the perfect transitional look, going from that New York City summer weather to the early crisp fall temperatures of September.

A new season is always a great way to remember to take advantage of new beginnings, forgetting about the ghosts of seasons past and simply moving on with your life. Look forward to the new adventures that the next few months have in store for you and simply focus on your own happiness. The past few months have been filled with blessings, but I've made my fair share of mistakes as well. It's all a part of a learning process that this industry has especially taught me. I'm happy where I am, and although I've still got a long road ahead of me, focusing on myself has been the best way to make sure that I'm accomplishing my goals and working towards bettering myself and my hopefully inspiring others to do the same.

1 Hotel Central Park

A staycation before the new semester seemed ideal, so that's exactly what I did the weekend before classes began. There's a new boutique hotel in New York City, and being an Interior Design student, you know that I couldn't help myself when it came to the aesthetics. I previewed the space before construction was complete and now that it's open, it certainly exceeded my expectations. 1 Hotel Central Park is a completely sustainable hotel, from its walls and linens to its soaps and hangers, everything is made out of recycled or all natural products.

From the moment the doors opened, I was greeted with the fresh smell of wood. I was immediately transported to a refreshing environment, an oasis amongst the nitty gritty of NYC. The staff at 1 Hotel Central Park gave me the warmest welcome I could have asked for. After checking in, I made my way up to the suite where the elevator opened walls were covered with recycled wood from Hurricane Sandy. The room had a king size bed with a perched seat framing a city view. The lights, TV, and phone access was all included in one Nexus device. Crisp linens, recycled hangers, soaps, shampoos, etc. Everything in the space was so well thought out and it truly celebrated sustainable design. Everything had a past life that was made new once more.

Located on 1414 6th Ave, you'll be able to find yourself right by Central Park South, adjacent to the best shopping and some of the best eats in the city. You can book your stay with 1 Hotel here. I really hope to make my way back there soon as well as their location in South Beach, Florida. This hotel was nothing short of extraordinary.

Check out a little video that I put together during my stay at 1 Hotel Central Park.
