WeWork: Balancing It All



Becoming a full-time influencer is exactly that, it's a job that is 24/7. It doesn't begin at 9AM and it doesn't end at 5PM. Everyday has work involved, but here's the thing: it's work I absolutely love. Every morning, I wake up loving the path that I chose. I chose to be my own boss, to take this plunge into the world of social media after graduating college, and I have not regretted it since. Blogging is a career path that has allowed me to call my own shots, to travel and see the world, and work with some really incredible companies and brands.
I recently travelled to Toronto to hang out with one of my closest friends, but even when I'm getting away from home, work still needs to get done. I checked out the WeWork locations in Toronto to get some things crossed off my to do list. We came across the Richmond St. W location, took some photos in the area, and then we got some work done at the latest location on Bloor Street.

It was fun checking out WeWork in another city, each one with its own style but still somehow still in sync with the other locatons. Although my trip was booked primarily to just get out of the city and relax a bit, I still had to get through a long to-do list I was trying to catch up with. After sitting down and focusing for a few hours, I was able to get a lot of work done and continue to enjoy the rest of my time in Toronto. It's always balancing work and fun whether I'm away or at home.

So how do I juggle blogging and this industry with the rest of my life? A lot goes on behind the posts that make it online, so it can get tricky sometimes making sure I do what I need to get done, and I also do what's good for myself and everything else in my life. Luckily, I've been a pretty organized person for as long as I can remember, but here's the system that works for me that might help you guys!

SIT DOWN, MAKE A LIST
A few nights a week, when I can find some time before bed, I make a list of the things I need to do. Sometimes it's a week out, sometimes more. If there's something that I know is happening, I'll write it down. The sooner it needs to get done, the higher it goes on the list. And this list isn't strictly work, I'll include errands for the house, nail appointments, brunch or dinner with friends, a movie, etc. Everything goes on the list and then organized/edited as I go along.

COLOR CODED CALENDAR
After the list is done, things go in the calendar. Deadlines, meetings, events, when things need to be sent in by, when things need to be posted, etc. Once all my work stuff gets planned out, all the other things get planned out around those things.

Weekends are usually with Marco since we don't see each other during the week, running errands with him, hanging out, taking photos, but also just resting and relaxing. I'll try to plan things that are in the city during the week to be on the same day. If I have an event on a certain day and I can schedule other things to be on the same day, I will. Designating certain days in the city gives me flexibility to stay home a day or two during the week. And I need that.

CITY DAYS
City days are usually filled with meetings, seeing friends, heading to a WeWork location to answer some e-mails, edit, and write, shooting content for Instagram and the Blog, attending events, and heading home around or after dinner time. These are the days that I also usually really get my steps up. When I'm in the city, I walk everywhere so I'm able to squeeze in a workout too.

DAYS AT HOME
These are my off days, but even then, I'll still get some work done at home. There will be days that I'm literally just in my PJ's and no make-up, but I'll get a lot of product shots, edit a bunch of content, clean my room, and also get to binge watch some of my shows. Some days at home include filming for YouTube so for this, I'll need to change out of my PJ's and put on some make up, but it's still a day at home to myself. My "me" time is so important and I don't feel fully recharged unless I've had at least a day to myself before tackling a busy few days ahead of me.




REST AND RESET
Mental health is so important. The work and life in general can get overwhelming. There have been so many times that I've made the mistake of spreading myself too thin, where my anxiety has gotten the best of me. And as much as I love my job and what I do, in order to continue to love my work, I need to do my job with the most positive mind. Putting down the phone, stepping away from the computer, having time to myself whether it's meditation, sketching, etc. Those things help me clear my mind and get me ready for those busy days ahead.
March has been such a hectic month, but all the hard work has become extremely rewarding and I can't wait to share with you guys what is coming up next. This Spring season is going to be incredible and I'm still pinching myself over what's ahead. WeWork's motto is "Do What You Love" and I've learned so much about the world and myself by pursuing a career that is pretty unpredictable. It has kept me on my toes, taken me out of my comfort zone, and pushed my limits. But with any field, finding that balance has been the key to my chosen career path.
