Lab Coats

Being in school full-time, working part-time, blogging, and maintaining a social life, you learn to save time where you can. Having a 9AM class means waking up at 7 everyday, and that's after going to bed at about 2 in the morning. Throwing together outfits have been a part of my routine, and when in doubt, I always go towards all black/grey. This spring weather has been a long time coming and I'm happy to have stocked up on a couple of "lab coats" for the season. These structured coats are the perfect layering piece for any outfit.

Spring Staples

After a long and brutal winter, being able to stroll through the city streets yesterday with a light jacket seemed magical. I've been saving this post for the weather to finally align with the time of the year, and it just so happens that my spring break is beginning as well! I've accumulated a couple of staples in various colors to carry me through the season until September. These structured trench jackets may look like lab coats, but I don't remember wearing anything this chic for chem lab. Other additional pieces you'll want to stock up on are dainty blouses, strappy sandals, a bucket bag, sunhat, and culottes.

Waverly Place

So here's a formula: White Top + Camel + Light-Wash Denim + White Sneakers. That's going to be a combo I'll be recycling for the spring and summer season. When I know that I'm going to have a long day in the city, sneakers are always a good choice to go with. With the comeback of Adidas Originals, my city walks hitting over 10,000 steps a day (according to my Fitbit) have been a breeze, and for being a commuter in NYC, it's necessary to make fashion and functionality work cohesively. What are your go-to shoes that are both fashionable and comfortable?

Farewell + Goodbye

It seems as though I've stepped back in time, walking into an autumnal-wintery scene. But do not let the spots of snow on the ground fool you, this was a particularly warm day compared to what NYC has had the past few weeks. The beiges and creams of the season are taking over a majority of the space in my closet, and that's perfectly okay with me. I live for neutral tones and the emphasis on the design and structure rather than it's color.

Ivy League Meltdown

The charm of the Ivies are undeniable. Oozing with sophistication and history, the architecture is incomparable to most Universities I have explored. Although I'm sure this campus is even more magnificent during the spring of fall foliage, I enjoyed wandering the grounds on a surprisingly warm winter day as the snow melted into warmer weather. Attending school in Manhattan, a cinderblock in the center of city traffic, Princeton was definitely another story. Grey Areas

Have you ever had those winter days where the sun is shining so bright that it's like Spring is just eager for its time of the year? The weather is trying to warm up but this stubborn winter isn't letting go as easily. If the weather won't lighten up, then parts of my wardrobe will. I tend to save my light wash pieces for the Spring and Summer months and I can already tell you that I'm going to have a very light monochromatic season, stocking up on whites, creams, beiges, and browns. I hope to tuck away this favorite black winter coat of mine away for a good couple of months now. Bring on the flowers, blooms, and spring showers.

Longest Winter

Seems like a lot of things have been making a comeback this season, trends from when I was in 7th or 8th grade reappearing on the streets. While I'm still trying to fight with winter to get back to spring attire, I'm hoping this is going to be one of my last few winter looks. An all black canvas is perfect for layering a longline coat and making my Adidas Superstars stand out. On the hunt for a brunch spot in Brooklyn, this was a comfy and casual look for the day. As the snow begins to melt and temperatures are finally hitting over 50, I'm thrilled for the upcoming season. I can feel it's going to be a good one. Read more for additional shots and details.

White Winters + Black Beanies

I remember loving winter as a child – waking up to a fresh blanket of snow never failed to put a smile on my face. Maybe it's because I grew up in the Philippines and seeing snow fall was magic to me. The great thing about snow on the ground is how the light reflects off its surface, making excellent lighting conditions for photos. This winter has been perfect for showing off my winter pieces, including this black on black beanie courtesy of The Fur House. For additional details on this look, check out the rest of this post. I also found incredible deals for all sizes of the Givenchy Antigona, linked at the bottom of this article. You won't be disappointed. ;)

March | Current Cravings

Happy March from New York, where we just had a few more inches of snowfall today. Just when I began to feel like Spring was finally on its way, Winter comes back with another punch. I've forgotten what it feels like to step outside in less than 3 layers beneath a jacket. Living in nothing but wool and cashmere was definitely fun for a while, but I'm pretty much over the bulky look. I'm ready to lighten up my outfits when I can finally feel the warmth of the sun once more. Some pieces I've got my eyes on for the Spring Season include boyfriend jeans, peep-toe booties, and a quality leather jacket. Considering I'm on a clothes-shopping ban until Lent is over, any Spring Shopping will have to wait until mid-April.
